Most of the timber screws and chipboard screw can turn into a type 17 screws. Adding a type 17 on the tip of the screw can generate a sharp edge that can cut the timber fiber into small pieces. Therefore, it can prevent the timber from splitting, reducing torsion on the screw head so it is very useful for close to edge work.
